Police Crime Report 04/22/24 To 04/28/24

Shrewsbury Police Crime Report April 22nd through 28th:

  • On 04/24/24, officers responded to the 7800 block of Chatwell for a report of property damage. In the overnight hours, someone had attempted to enter a company truck by prying the door handles. Entry was not gained and nothing inside the vehicle was disturbed. This case is under investigation.
  • On 4/26/24, officers responded to the 7200 block of Watson Road for a report of a man who had stolen a bag of groceries and fled the scene on a bike.  Officers located the suspect talking to a friend near a bus stop on Watson Road. When officers approached, both men turned, walked away, and refused to stop for police. Officers were able to convince the suspect to stop and advised him he was under arrest for stealing. Although he maintained that he hadn’t stolen anything, the stolen items were in a bag tied to the handlebars. He was arrested for stealing and trespassing; this was not his first theft from this store. He will also now be able to take care of the numerous active stealing warrants from other agencies. The other man was not involved in the theft from this location… but keep reading.
  • On 04/26/24, while officers were investigating a theft from a business in the 7200 block of Watson Road, they uncovered another theft from a business in the 7400 block of Watson Road when both men, who were working together, met at a bus stop to compare their loot. The man’s backpack was overflowing with packages of meat and fish, all with stickers from a local store. Officers responded to that store and, through video surveillance footage, determined the man had in fact stolen more than $170 in meat and fish. He was arrested for stealing.  He, too, will now be able to clear up the numerous active warrants in St. Louis County and St. Charles County, as well as a felony charge in St. Louis City.
  • On 04/28/24, officers responded to the 7500 block of Triwoods for a report of a damaged vehicle windshield.  The resident’s vehicle windshield appeared to have been shot twice with a pellet gun. This case is still under investigation.

During the week of April 22nd – April 28th, along with regular calls for service and traffic enforcement, the Shrewsbury Police Department responded to 7 shoplifting incidents along the Watson Road business corridor, 12 motor vehicle accidents, 2 residential and commercial alarms, and assisted the Fire / EMS Department on 13 calls.
